Chottanikkara Bhagawathy temple

A famous pilgrim centre in Kerala. Temple is located in Chottanikkara of Ernakulam District. In this temple goddess is worshipped in three forms: morning-Saraswathi, noon-Lakshmi, Evening-Durga. Navarathri is a main festival here. Lot of devotees gather on these days for 'ezhuthiniruthal'. Two temples are there one for the elder(melkkavilamma) another for the younger sister(Keezhkavilamma). It is believed that goddess have the power to cure mental diseases. Here we can see lot of patients with mental diseases observing 'bhajanam' (staying inside the temple and eating only the food from the temple).

The temple is 18Km away from Ernakulam. Private bus service is also available.
